There is a lot to love about this show; the cast are strong, and the onstage band who interact in the main diner setting is a fun touch.

Get It Into Ya! | Tom GleesonGet It Into Ya! is a solid, entertaining hour of stand up from television personality Tom Gleeson. It’s well-timed and executed observational humour with a good flow through and diverse topics that are light without being trite. From the social lives of married couples to the frustration of Melbourne’s endless roadworks, battery hens versus free range chooks and negotiating good deals on sofas, Gleeson is in command of his material from start to finish and even manages to weave both hecklers and other audience members into his shtick.

Gleeson is a tall, gangly guy, going bald – which means he’s a “dude” in his books. Kinda nerdy, kinda cute, he walks that line between daggy and cool. He uses it to best effect, with stories about a worrying melanoma on the back of his head, the disappointments of baldness and the humiliation of having to wear foundation make up on his noggin (his word, not mine) on national television.

There’s no dull patches in Gleeson’s stream of material and it’s not too offensive, but not sissy either.

In the hundreds of comedy festival offerings, Get It Into Ya! is a sound choice that won’t disappoint.
